This is a tribute to people that use their body as a colorful exhibition space, the butterflies among us. Tattoos, body painting or extreme make up. Some people do it for fun, whereas for others it is deeply existential. The body is private, but becomes public through the attention received. For the past years, I have been capturing people with an interesting body history. Through photographing people and subcultures that are obsessed by their image or put a lot of effort into their body, I have been exploring our relationship to our bodies on a personal and social level. Ideals, and what is normal change between different groups of people. What we all have in common is a wish to be seen.
